Keeping the Momentum Towards Best-in-Class
On 3 June, Sun Life Malaysia held its monthly Best-in-Class leadership meeting at M Floor, bringing together our top 70 leaders to review progress, exchange perspectives, and stay focused on the priorities that will drive our Best-in-Class ambitions.

The session was also attended by Randy Lianggara, President of Emerging Markets, Sun Life Asia; Ho Teck Seng, our President & Country Head, and SLMT CEO Azam Yusof.

The meeting reinforced the importance of strengthening collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership as we continue building a brighter future for our Clients, people, and business.
 
The Future of Living: Exploring Health and Longevity
On 3 June, Sun Life Malaysia partnered with CIMB Bank to host The Future of Living: Predictive & Longevity at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, bringing together 70 attendees, including CIMB affluent clients, overseas delegates and CIMB Bank leaders, for an evening of thought leadership on the future of health and longevity.

The event was attended by Ho Teck Seng, our President & Country Head; Alvis Wee, Chief Partnership Officer; Daniel Cheong, Head of Consumer Banking, CIMB Malaysia, and CIMB Bank leaders.

The evening kick-started with welcome remarks by Ho Teck Seng and Daniel Cheong, followed by insightful sessions by Dr. Ron Tan, Founder of Pathomics Health, and Dr. Gokula Mohan, Stem Cell Scientist and Technical Expert at BioV Stemcell. Together, they shared how advancements in DNA science and biotechnology are shaping the future of predictive healthcare and longevity, while encouraging participants to take a more proactive approach to living healthier, longer lives.

The event reflects the continued collaboration between Sun Life Malaysia and CIMB in delivering meaningful engagements that support Clients' evolving health and financial wellbeing needs.

Through two client stories, the campaign showcases real experiences that highlight the value of financial protection and the difference it can make when it matters most. By putting our Clients' voices at the forefront, the initiative reinforces our commitment to helping Malaysians achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.

Hoops+Health 2026: Celebrating Three Years of Impact
On 20 June, Sun Life Malaysia, in collaboration with Beyond Sport returned to Kuala Ampang Basketball Court for Hoops+Health Basketball Festival 2026, marking the final year of a programme that has helped empowered young Malaysians through sport.

The festival brought together 150 youths for a day of basketball, teamwork and healthy living, along with the presence of Ho Teck Seng, our President & Country Head, alongside Tina Wong, Consultant from Beyond Sport, our programme partners and the local community.

The day featured a basketball clinic for children under 12, followed by exciting 3x3 tournaments across the Under-12 and Under-17 categories, where young players demonstrated their skills and sportsmanship on the court.

Participants also enjoyed interactive activities including a Memory Matching game, Basketball Toss and the Eat Smart Challenge, promoting healthy habits in a fun and engaging way.

Over the past three years, the programme has directly impacted over 400 youth and coaches across Malaysian and indirectly reached over 3000 young people through coach-led activities.

A big thank you to our partners - Beyond Sport, USJ20 Basketball Club, Nicol David Organisation, and Jungle Cats Basketball Academy for their support in making this programme a success.

Delivering Takaful with Purpose Through Zakat
Fulfilling Our Zakat Commitment

On 22 June, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful (SLMT) participated in a zakat handover ceremony organised by Pusat Pungutan Zakat – Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, where SLMT presented RM700,000 in business zakat for the 2025 financial year.

The zakat contribution was presented by En. Azam Yusof, our SLMT CEO to YB Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), witnessed by YB Senator Puan Marhamah Rosli, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs).

Beyond its contribution to PPZ-MAIWP, SLMT also fulfilled its zakat obligations to other state zakat authorities across Malaysia, bringing its total zakat contribution for the 2025 financial year to RM2.2 million.

Seeing the Impact First-Hand

On the same day, SLMT also participated in the ZAPAR Care Tour (ZACT) 2.1 in Ipoh, organised by Zakat Perak Al-Ridzuan (ZAPAR). SLMT was represented by Ustaz Saifudin bin Gahnehman, Head of Shariah Governance.

The programme provided zakat payers with a closer look at how zakat donations are channeled to asnaf families. Through home visits and direct engagement, participants saw how these supports help ease financial burdens and improve daily lives conditions for the beneficiaries.

Together, these initiatives reflect SLMT's continued commitment in advancing responsible takaful practices while creating meaningful social impacts.
 
Q2 Townhall: Driving Alignment and Performance
On 24 June, Sun Life Malaysia held its Q2 Townhall on M Floor, bringing together the Top 60 leaders, including our President & Country Head, Ho Teck Seng and SLMT CEO, Azam Yusof, alongside members of the senior management committee, for a meaningful checkpoint on business performance and organisational progress.

The session offered an important checkpoint to review our 1H business performance, reflect on progress of the High Performance & Caring Culture agenda, and align leaders on the priorities needed to sustain momentum for the months ahead.

It also recognised the collective efforts of Sun Lifers across the organisation, highlighting how teamwork, ownership and commitment continue to support business progress and stronger outcomes for Clients and partners.
