Turning Financial Protection into Purposeful Conversations

As part of our ongoing efforts to increase our brand awareness and understanding of takaful and waqf, we collaborated with financial content creator, Financial Faiz, on a educational video series to bring these important conversations to a wider Malaysian audience.

The three-part 'Perlindungan Dengan Tujuan' series highlights how takaful can serve a greater purpose beyond financial protection. Through relatable, everyday scenarios, the series explores three key themes: protecting families from financial hardship through takaful, ensuring loved ones continue to receive financial support through our innovative Distribution Settlement Option feature, and creating a lasting legacy through waqf and purposeful financial planning.

The series culminated with a podcast featuring our SLMT CEO, En. Azam Yusof, and En. Saifudin, Head of Shariah Governance, who shared perspectives on how takaful and waqf can help individuals protect their families, plan with purpose and create a positive impact that extends beyond their lifetime.

By bringing these conversations to digital platforms through familiar and trusted voices, the initiative aims to make Islamic financial solutions easier to understand and encourage more Malaysians to think more intentionally about how they protect their loved ones and create lasting impact.

Protection with Purpose Roadshow Continues to Empower Malaysians at IOI Mall Puchong

In August, our ‘Protection with Purpose’ Roadshow travelled to IOI Mall Puchong (12-16 August), continuing its mission to help Malaysians better understand what it means to be insured and truly protected.

Centered on the theme ‘Insured and Truly Protected’, the roadshow encouraged visitors to take a closer look at their existing coverage and understand whether it continues to meet their needs at different life stages, while ensuring they have the right protection in place for themselves and their loved ones.

The event successfully engaged over 700 registered visitors, offering free health screenings, finance-themed and reflex challenge games, Spin the Sun lucky draws, and other interactive activities. Visitors who completed financial consultation were also eligible for a draw to win 12 months of complimentary Group Term Takaful (GTT) coverage with a sum covered of RM10,000 with 10 winners to be selected, subject to term and conditions.

Building on the encouraging engagement at IOI City Mall and IOI Mall Puchong, the roadshow will head to its final stop at 1 Utama Shopping Centre in September, helping more Malaysians take a closer look at their protection needs and make informed financial choices.

Inspiring Financial Literacy Through InsureLit Youth Programme 2026

The InsureLit Youth Programme reached another milestone through Phase 2, engaging more than 650 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students in a 3-week online learning experience designed to make financial and takaful education more accessible and relevant to young Malaysians. Through interactive learning modules, and challenges, participants deepened their understanding of essential financial concepts and the role of takaful in building financial resilience. The programme equipped students with practical knowledge and greater confidence to navigate their financial journeys and make informed decisions for the future.

The programme also expanded its reach by conducting InsureLit board game sessions at Kolej Komuniti Selayang in August and Kolej Komuniti Ampang in September. This builds on four successful engagements across polytechnics in the Klang Valley, further extending the programme’s impact within the broader TVET community.

By bringing the InsureLit Youth Programme to more learning institutions, Sun Life Malaysia continues to make financial literacy more accessible to young Malaysians, helping them build stronger financial foundations and take more confident steps towards their financial futures.
