Q2 Townhall & Sun Lifers Appreciation: Celebrating Our People and a Strong First Half Performance
On 15 July, over 600 Sun Lifers gathered at Quill City Mall for our Q2 2026 Townhall & Sun Lifers Appreciation event, themed ‘Real Connections. Reel Moments.’

Kicking off the townhall, Ho Teck Seng, President & Country Head of Sun Life Malaysia, welcomed Sun Lifers and shared business updates on our performance in the first half of the year. This was followed by a special address from Randy Lianggara, President of Emerging Markets, Sun Life Asia. The session provided an opportunity to reflect on our first half performance and recognise the teams behind these achievements, while aligning everyone on our priorities and business outlook for the months ahead.

Beyond the business updates, the event created space for Sun Lifers to connect, unwind and celebrate together, concluding with an exclusive private screening of Moana. More than a celebration, it was a reminder that our collective success is shaped by the people behind it, and that fostering a connected and caring culture helps everyone perform their best.

Sun Lifers Hack Their Way Forward with AI
On 18 July, over 90 Sun Lifers gathered at AWS Malaysia’s office at The Gardens North Tower, for the AI Hackathon, immersing themselves in a day of experimentation, collaboration and problem-solving.

Working in teams, Sun Lifers explored how artificial intelligence (AI) could be applied to real business challenges. Sun Lifers identified high-value AI use cases and developed proof-of-concept solutions while gaining hands-on experience with emerging technologies. Throughout the day, teams exchanged ideas, tested new approaches, and later presented their project ideas, reflecting a growing culture of High Performance and Caring Culture. The event was also attended by Irina Lim, COO; Azreena Che Omar, CHRO; Victor Cheong, CCDO; Christine Michael, CLOO; and Ong Le Keat, CFO. More than a learning experience, the hackathon marked another step in strengthening AI capabilities across the organisation, empowering Sun Lifers to turn bold ideas into practical solutions that can drive the business forward.

Conversations That Matter: Making Protection Part of the Conversation
A meaningful morning of dialogue unfolded at De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan, The LINC KL, as Sun Life Malaysia brought together over 200 attendees for ‘Conversations That Matter’ on 18 July.

Featuring our SLMT CEO, Encik Azam Yusof, alongside our brand ambassador, Alif Satar, and financial influencers, Timothy Tiah and Financial Faiz, the event explored topics close to everyday life — from fatherhood and financial planning to preparing for retirement and ensuring our loved ones remain financially protected.

The event also marked an important step in bringing the ‘Protection with Purpose’ message to a wider audience. Through candid conversations and real-life perspectives, attendees were encouraged to think beyond simply saving for the future and consider the importance of having the right protection in place when it matters most.

The event also concluded with a special live performance by Alif Satar & The Locos, creating a memorable experience that brought people together while opening up conversations that matter for a more financially secure future.

InsureLit Youth Programme Returns for the Third Year to Impact 800 TVET Students
On 20 July, we officially launched the InsureLit Youth Programme 2026 at Politeknik Banting Selangor. Returning for the third year, we have expanded the programme to reach 800 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students in the Klang Valley. The programme continues its financial literacy journey to equip young Malaysians with the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions.

This year programme was held in collaboration with Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK), running from July to September, comprising a combination of offline and online workshops and learning modules covering practical topics including savings, budgeting, scams, takaful and waqf.

The launch brought together 200 students and lecturers of Politeknik Banting, Sun Lifers, and was officiated by En. Azam Yusof, our SLMT CEO. Also in attendance were En. Roswady bin Abdul Wahab, Deputy Director of Politeknik Banting; Puan Nirmala, Head of Household Financial Education, AKPK; and Nor Isman bin Hassan, Senior Assistant Director, JPPKK.

A key highlight of the programme is our InsureLit board game session, where Sun Lifers volunteered as facilitators to guide students through a fun and interactive experience that brings financial concepts to life. By making financial literacy more accessible and engaging, the programme aims to inspire young Malaysians to build stronger financial foundations today, so they can step into tomorrow with greater confidence and a brighter future ahead.
