A Gesture of Care: Majlis Sentuhan Kasih by SLMT x PPZ-MAIWP
On 19 January, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful (SLMT) supported the ‘Majlis Sentuhan Kasih’ event held at Auditorium Tan Sri Abdul Rafie, Jabatan Pendidikan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (JPWPKL). Organised by Pusat Pungutan Zakat – Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP), the event aimed to support 500 students from 25 special needs schools in Kuala Lumpur.

The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Senator Dr. Zulkifli bin Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), and attended by SLMT CEO, En. Azam Yusof, as well as Yang Berusaha Tuan Megat Affandi Datuk Wira Haji Ismail, Director of Education for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

As part of our role as a takaful company, a total of RM100,000 was donated to the students through SLMT’s wakalah fund, reflecting our responsibility to contribute to the well-being of the communities we serve. This contribution underscores our commitment to uplifting underserved groups and empowering them with opportunities that go beyond financial protection.

Driving Excellence: Sun Life Malaysia Best-In-Class Workshop 2026
On 14 and 15 January, a two-day Best-in-Class Workshop was held at our First Avenue office to challenge perspectives, align priorities, and strengthen execution as we work towards becoming a best-in-class organisation.

The workshop brought together senior leaders from both Regional and Malaysia teams, including Randy Lianggara, President of Emerging Markets, Sun Life Asia, and members of the Sun Life Regional Office management team. Sun Life Malaysia was represented by Ho Teck Seng, President & Country Head of Sun Life Malaysia, En. Azam Yusof, SLMT CEO, as well as members of the management committee and relevant heads of departments.

The session reinforced our Playing to Win culture by grounding discussions in clear strategic choices and disciplined execution. By benchmarking against best-in-class peers and challenging existing mindsets, leaders aligned on long-term priorities, sharpened execution focus, and strengthened cross-functional leadership to close gaps and deliver measurable impact for Clients, advisors, partners, and communities.

Transform to Win: Partnership Distribution & Marketing Kick-Off 2026
Partnership Distribution & Marketing Townhall 2026

On 19 January, the Partnership Distribution & Marketing Kickoff was held at M Floor, bringing teams together to align priorities and set the direction for the year ahead.

The session opened with remarks from our President & Country Head, Ho Teck Seng, who introduced the year’s theme, Transform to Win. His address set the tone for a strong focus on transformation, performance, and execution in 2026. This was followed by a presentation from our CDMO, Alvis Wee, who shared insights on Transforming from Legacy to Leading Edge, highlighting the key shifts required to support sustainable growth.

Throughout the townhall, department heads and leaders shared business updates, strategic priorities, and execution plans. These discussions reinforced alignment across teams and provided clarity on shared goals as we move forward together into the year ahead.

Partnership Distribution & Marketing Team Building 2026

On 20 January, 80 Sun Lifers from the Partnership Distribution & Marketing team came together for a team building session at Monkeys Canopy Resort, designed to strengthen collaboration, trust, and team spirit for the year ahead.

The event was led by our CDMO, Alvis Wee, who set the tone for a focus on teamwork, resilience, and shared purpose. Department heads, leaders, and senior managers participated in a series of group challenges, including Esports Virtual Arenas (EVA), Conquer and Splash, and rock climbing which encouraged problem-solving, creativity, and team collaboration in a fun and engaging environment.

The day concluded with a team dinner, joined by our President & Country Head, Ho Teck Seng, and a prize-giving ceremony recognising both participation and collective effort. The experience reinforced the importance of working together, building stronger connections across the team, and fueling momentum for the year ahead.
 
Celebrating Excellence: Sun Life Malaysia Clinches Silver at the Putra Aria Brand Awards 2025
On 22 January, Sun Life Malaysia proudly received the Silver Award in the ‘Banking, Investment, and Insurance’ category at the Putra Aria Brand Awards 2025 — the widely recognised “money-cannot-buy” People’s Choice Award.

The award was received by key members of Sun Life Malaysia’s leadership team, including SLMT CEO, En. Azam Yusof, COO, Irina Lim, CHRO, Azreena Che Omar, CFO, Ong Le Keat, and other senior management representatives.

This recognition reflects the collective effort and dedication of the Sun Life Malaysia team in elevating the brand’s excellence and Purpose. Building on previous successes, the Silver Award demonstrates the trust Malaysians place in Sun Life Malaysia and the positive impact of our work across communities, Clients, and advisors alike.

This year’s awards were especially meaningful, with 51,000 Malaysians voting for their preferred brands, reflecting strong public trust for the winning brands.
