Celebrating Light and Togetherness: Deepavali 2025

On 4 November, Sun Lifers gathered at Level 1 of our HQ Office, bringing festive cheer and vibrant colours as we celebrated Deepavali. The afternoon began with an inspiring remark from Ho Teck Seng, President & Country Head of Sun Life Malaysia, who emphasised the importance of unity, respect, and creating a workplace where every culture is seen and celebrated.

The celebration truly came alive with a vibrant dance performance by our talented DCX Team, followed by a beautiful cultural showcase by Senada Tari. Sun Lifers also enjoyed a variety of traditional Indian dishes — a delicious way to honour the richness of Deepavali’s traditions.

More than just a celebration, the event brought our Sun Lifers closer, reminding us of the light we create when we connect, appreciate one another, and share each other’s traditions.

Unleashing the BOLDER Spirit: Amazing Challenge Sessions in November

Throughout the month of November, we transformed the Mezzanine Floor of our HQ Office into a hub of energy, creativity, and teamwork with multiple sessions of Playing to Win: The Amazing Challenge.

Over 280 Sun Lifers participated in four engaging sessions filled with activities designed to bring the Asia Charter Values and BOLDER Mindset to life. From Zumba and Batik Painting to Whisper Challenge, Value Hunt Word Search, Heartfelt Words, and Power Pose Photo — each session sparked laughter, collaboration, and friendly competition - creating memorable moments across teams.
 
Shaping Financially Savvy Students with Takaful Awareness
Inspiring Smart Money Habits at UKM KL Campus!

As part of our ongoing mission to boost financial literacy through the InsureLit Campaign, we concluded the year with the final leg of the InsureLit Youth Programme at UKM KL Campus on 8 November. The session combined financial education, wellness, and interactive engagement for a holistic learning experience.

The session featured an engaging financial talk by Ziet Invest, a popular personal finance YouTuber; Emir Elias, a personal finance educator and content creator; and was moderated by Liyana Hisham, a former TV presenter and clinical psychologist. They shared practical insights on managing finances, understanding insurance and takaful, and planning for long-term goals, sparking lively discussions and helping students gain confidence in applying financial knowledge to real-life situations.

Following the talk, students got hands-on with financial concepts through the InsureLit board game, guided by our Sun Lifers. They also participated in wellness activities, including a healthy oats snack demo and health checks, reinforcing the connection between financial literacy and overall well-being. 

With UKM KL as the final campus for this year, the programme has reached over 800 students across five universities in Klang Valley, reinforcing our mission to empower students to make informed financial decisions.

Empowering UIAM Students with Shariah-Compliant Financial Knowledge

On 8 November, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad (SLMT), in collaboration with the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), continued its nationwide youth financial literacy programme, Program Inspirasi Pendidikan Kewangan Belia Negara 2025/2026, at Dewan Wadi Budi, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM). Funded through SLMT’s surplus sharing initiative, the programme embodies Takaful values of mutual support and community upliftment.

The session welcomed 79 students, alongside 12 faculty and partners, including Ustaz Saifudin Gahnehman; Head of Shariah Governance and Dr. Ghazali Jaapar; SLMT’s Shariah Committee. Students engaged in an interactive InsureLit board game, exploring real-life financial scenarios to strengthen their understanding of money management, savings, and the importance of Shariah-compliant financial protection.

Through this initiative, SLMT continues to empower young Malaysians to make informed financial decisions early in life, guided by Islamic principles and the spirit of Takaful — reinforcing our purpose to help people achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.
 
InsureLit Roadshow 2025: Financial Wellness on the Go
November marked the final stretch of our InsureLit Roadshow 2.0, with two vibrant stops at MyTown Cheras (6–9 November) and IOI City Mall Putrajaya (26–30 November). The first 3 roadshows drew over 1,000 visitors, – reaching out to Malaysians who are eager to learn more about to building stronger financial foundations.

Visitors enjoyed a range of hands-on activities designed to make financial literacy fun and accessible, including Stat Stopper, Sunny Goals, The Smart Money Game, Toss or Loss, and Ready, Set, Maze. They also received complimentary health checks - blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol - provided by IJN First Pharmacy. To help visitors make informed financial decisions, our Advisors were also on-site to review protection needs and discuss financial plans. Guests even had the chance to bring home the adorable Labubu Big Into Energy plush in our bonus draw.

All these elements came together to create a well-rounded experience that blended financial awareness, personal wellness, and engaging activities. Our InsureLit roadshow series continues to spark meaningful conversations, encourage healthier money habits and bring financial education closer to the community — one step at a time.
 
Caring for the Community: PPR Screening Programme 2025
To celebrate International Diabetes Month and reinforce Sun Life’s mission of championing diabetes awareness, the PPR Screening Programme returned for its second year. This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting underprivileged B40 families in taking charge of their health.

The initiative kicked off on 20 November with Sun Lifers coming together at the Food Aid Foundation office to pack nutritious food items and diabetes test kits that will be distributed to the underprivileged families under the programme. Each bundle was prepared with care, symbolising our shared commitment to the well-being of the community.

Our first stop was at PPR Seri Cempaka on 22 November, where over 130 residents received these packages and underwent complimentary blood glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure tests, facilitated by our partner, BookDoc. The Programme provided residents with practical guidance to manage their health, while fostering a sense of community support and connection.

A heartfelt thank you to Food Aid Foundation, BookDoc, and PPR Seri Cempaka for making this initiative possible. The programme will conclude with its final session at PPR Raya Permai in December, continuing our mission to inspire healthier lives and stronger communities.
 
Insights and Inspiration: Leaders’ Special Townhall Fireside Chat
In conjunction with the visit of Manjit Singh (President, Sun Life Asia) and Randy Lianggara (President of Emerging Markets, Sun Life Asia), a Leaders’ Special Townhall Fireside Chat was held on 24 November. The session, which also featured our President & Country Head, Ho Teck Seng, brought together our Top 60s for an inspiring and interactive discussion on leadership, strategy, and growth.

The conversation, moderated by En Noor Azam Mohd Yusof, CEO of Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad, provided a valuable platform for sharing insights, exchanging ideas, and motivating our leaders to drive collaboration and innovation across the organisation.

Trailblazing Compliance Innovation: Sun Life Malaysia Shines in Asia

Sun Life Malaysia proudly congratulates Shereen Vincent, Elaine Fan, and Serena Wong for being honoured with the Compliance Innovation Challenge Asia Award, presented by Manjit Singh, President of Sun Life Asia.

The award recognises their outstanding innovation in developing the Market Conduct Tool (MCT Gen-2), designed to empower the first line of defence — our Distribution Channel — with data-driven insights via a centralised dashboard. The tool enables early detection of conduct risks, supports proactive mitigation, and strengthens overall compliance oversight, driving sustainable business quality.
