Family First: Alif Satar’s Legacy Message to Malaysians
At Sun Life Malaysia, we aim to empower more Malaysians to secure theirs and their loved ones’ financial futures. On 6 May, we arranged a series of media interviews for our brand ambassador, Alif Satar, to share his thoughts on the importance of family legacy planning. 

In the interviews with key publications, Majoriti 7, Pa&Ma, and Sinar Daily, Alif shared his personal views on legacy planning and financially protecting his family -  a topic that resonates deeply with him being a father and husband. 

His presence brought warmth and relatability to a subject often seen as complex, helping to unpack Sun Life Malaysia’s mission to boost Malaysian’s insurance and takaful knowledge.

Hoops + Health is Back for Year 2!
As part of a Regional Office – led initiative, Sun Life Malaysia has officially kicked off the second year of Hoops + Health — a youth wellness programme led by Sun Life Regional Office in partnership with Beyond Sport. 

This year, we’re teaming up with Jungle Cats Basketball Academy, Nicol David Foundation, and USJ20 Basketball Club to engage 160 children, aged 7–16, through free weekly basketball sessions and a specialised coaching clinic.

Sun Life’s Regional Office has increased its investment in the Hoops + Health programme to CAD 1.5 million this year, reinforcing its commitment to tackling physical inactivity among youth in underserved communities. Rolled out across Sun Life’s Business Units in Asia, the initiative aims to get 45,000 young people across Asia active by the end of 2025.
 
A Month of Milestones: Honouring Our CIMB Banca Stars
Banca Annual Awards 2024 Celebrates Top Achievers!

On 6 May, over 320 attendees gathered at M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur for the Banca Annual Awards 2024, a prestigious celebration to honour the outstanding achievements of CIMB’s top-performing sales staff and leaders.

The event was graced by President/Country Head of Sun Life Malaysia, Raymond Lew, CEO of Sun Life Malaysia Takaful, Azam Yusof, CIMB Group CEO, Novan Amirudin, as well as Sun Life Malaysia and CIMB’s senior leadership team members. It served as a platform to share success stories and best practices, while fostering a culture of high performance within the Bancassurance channel.

A total of eight award categories were celebrated, recognising the outstanding efforts of top-performing CIMB sales staff. These included the Banca Credit Life Award (7 pax), BOSS – Builder (14 pax), BOSS – Super Builder (14 pax), BOSS – MDRT (33 pax), BOSS – COT (18 pax), BOSS – TOT (1 pax), Banca Sales Convention Consecutive Winners (5 pax), and Banca Top Producer – Regular Premium (30 pax). The highlight of the evening was the Banca Top Producer – Regular Premium award, which honoured  exceptional individuals for their exemplary contribution and consistent performance throughout the year.


Celebrating Excellence and Unity at the Banca Sales Convention 2024

From 7 to 13 May, over 50 of our top-performing sales achievers and senior leaders gathered in Greece for the exclusive Banca Sales Convention 2024 – Elite Club. 

Joined by our President/Country Head, Raymond Lew and CDMO, Alvis Wee, the convention combined inspiring moments with cultural experiences. Attendees enjoyed welcome dinners, scenic village tours, an Athens excursion, and shopping days — all carefully curated to reward and motivate.

Beyond being a celebration of achievements, the convention fostered strong bonds, encouraged the sharing of best practices, and provided space for reflection and goal-setting. Key takeaways emphasised the importance of dedication and teamwork in cultivating a high-performance culture. The event showcased how collective support and collaboration between CIMB and Sun Life Malaysia drive lasting success.

From 17 to 20 May, the prestigious 2024 Asia President’s Award brought together more than 100 top Advisors and senior leaders from across Sun Life Asia at the stunning Cape Town, South Africa. This exclusive recognition programme celebrates the best of the best – producers who have demonstrated outstanding performance and professionalism.

Representing Sun Life Malaysia was Raymond Lew, our President/Country Head, who joined CEOs, CAOs, CDOs, and Advisors from across the region for this unforgettable experience. The event not only honoured their accomplishments but also deepened connections within the Sun Life community.

Key takeaways from the award trip included the importance of continuous improvement, peer learning, and a strong commitment to quality. By sharing best practices and fostering collaboration, the event reinforced Sun Life’s dedication to growth, excellence, and long-term success.
 

Driving Positive Impact – From Industry Leadership to PR Efforts
Bronze Win for InsureLit at PR Awards 2025

Sun Life Malaysia was awarded Bronze for Best PR Campaign – Thought Leadership and Reputation Management at the PR Awards 2025, recognising the positive impact of our InsureLit campaign.

Launched in 2024, the campaign set out to simplify insurance and takaful concepts while driving financial literacy across Malaysia. Over 1,000 students were reached through interactive school programmes featuring a custom financial board game, while roadshows and a community event with BFM 89.9 brought the message to wider audiences. Educational content, podcasts, and collaborations with financial influencers further strengthened outreach.

The win highlights our role in promoting financial knowledge and supporting Malaysians in building a more secure and financially confident future.


Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Shines at the Takaful Star Awards 2025

On 24 May, the Grand Ballroom at MITEC hosted the prestigious Takaful Star Awards 2025, organised by the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) to honour outstanding takaful operators and agents who have been contributed to the growth and development of the Takaful industry.

Representing Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad (SLMT) at the event was our SLMT CEO, Azam Yusof, along with a delegation of 18 attendees. The awards recognised excellence across 31 categories, celebrating the achievements of industry players who have driven meaningful progress in the Takaful space.

Sun Life Malaysia proudly took the spotlight in the Top Agent category, with Cheng Jit Lim clinching first place and Chiew Mui Shu coming in second — both representing YDG Agency. Their dedication, professionalism, and client-focused mind-set exemplify the values Sun Life uphold in delivering trusted financial protection to all Malaysians.
 

SLMT Strengthens Community Ties at Program Hi-Tea MAINS
On 27 May, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful (SLMT) participated in the Program Hi-Tea MAINS Bersama Syarikat Korporat, hosted by the Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Sembilan (MAINS).

As part of the event, SLMT presented its business zakat contribution of RM81,650 to MAINS, which forms part of the RM1.59 million zakat payable by the company this year. The zakat was officially received by Dato’ Seri Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Sheikh Ab. Kadir, Chairman of MAINS, and witnessed by Tuan Haji Zainal Bin Said, Secretary of MAINS.

This one-off contribution reflects SLMT’s continued commitment to ethical, Shariah-compliant business practices. In line with guidance from its Shariah Committee, SLMT distributes zakat payments to state religious councils across Malaysia.

Through this meaningful contribution, SLMT remains dedicated to upholding the values of integrity, compassion, and community support while fulfilling its religious and corporate responsibilities.
