We do not sell Client data We do not sell data that would identify an individual Client. There may be times when we share anonymous or aggregate data and insights to help deliver improvements and generate value for our Clients. |
We inform Clients about why we collect and use their data We’re committed to being clear with our Clients about how we collect and use their data. We outline their options and continue to simplify the language we use. |
Responsible data use at Sun Life means more than just doing the right thing. We have a responsible data use framework that includes an advisory body that works alongside our Global Privacy and Data Ethics Centre of Excellence to support coordination, education and alignment of responsible data use practices across Sun Life focused on common themes:

Artificial intelligence (AI), including generative and agentic AI, enables Sun Life to create more personalized and frictionless digital experiences for our Clients, streamline operations and enhance employee productivity.
As with any new technology, we apply our robust risk management framework, including privacy impact assessments, enterprise standards and data privacy principles to comply with evolving local laws and regulatory requirements related to the use of AI across all markets.
We provide our employees globally with AI training on how to optimize, develop and use the technology responsibly, including topics like bias and ethical use, hallucinations, and environmental impacts.

Governance by design is an approach where the governance model and its rules are built into the design system itself, from the initial experiment phase of AI initiatives through to full operational use.
