Sohibus Samahah Dato’ Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim

Sohibus Samahah Dato’ Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim has been the Chairman of Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad's Shariah Committee since 1 May 2021. He is also the Mufti of Pahang, a position he has held since 1 April 2024. Prior to that, he was a Professor at the Islamic Business School (IBS), UUM College of Business, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), where he served for 27 years.
He is a member of the Shariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad's Shariah Supervisory Council. He has also served as a member of the Shariah Expert Panel of JAKIM and the Pahang Waqf Council, and is a board member of several Pahang-based companies.
Previously, he served on the Shariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia, Jemaah Ulama’ Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Kelantan (MAIK), Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (LZNK), and the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji. He was also an internal consultant and subsequently a member of the Shariah Council of Hong Leong Islamic Bank, a member of the Muamalat Expert Panel of JAKIM, a Grand Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF), and a board member of Sintok Agro Sdn Bhd.
In higher education, he held various leadership positions, including Vice Chancellor/Chief Executive of Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (UniSHAMS), Dean of the Islamic Business School, UUM, Deputy Dean of the School of Finance and Banking, UUM, and Deputy Director of the UUM Islamic Centre.
He holds a Bachelor of Shariah in Fiqh and Usul Fiqh from the University of Jordan, and a Master's degree and PhD in the same field from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He also completed the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) qualification and IFP certification.
