Sun Life Malaysia Wins Awards For Brand & Product Creativity
Sun Life Malaysia is honoured to receive two prestigious industry awards – the Insurance Asia Awards 2021 and the BrandLaureate World BestBrands e-Branding Awards 2021, which recognised its brand and product creativity.
First, we were awarded the coveted
Insurance Asia Awards 2021 for New Takaful Insurance Product of the Year - Malaysia
category. Held annually, the Insurance Asia Awards is widely known as the most prestigious awards programme in Asia’s insurance industry featuring high-calibre judges comprising industry leaders, regulators and experts within Asia and beyond. This year, the award programme recorded the highest number of nominations, with over 100 insurers from over 25 markets being honoured for their achievements.

The BrandLaureate World BestBrands e-Branding Awards
for Insurance and Takaful Solutions, which honoured deserving brand champions in Malaysia. Organised by The World Brands Foundation (TWBF), the world’s only brands and branding foundation, The BrandLaureate e-Branding Awards celebrates brands that have not only stood strong, but have also reflected their brand resilience amid the pandemic. Winning this brand accolade is a recognition of Sun Life Malaysia’s successive efforts in transforming Sun Life Malaysia as a trusted brand.
Continuing Clients Support With New COVID-19 Special Medical Coverage
As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, Sun Life Malaysia remains committed to supporting our Clients, our people and communities. In August, we have launched a new COVID-19 support measure – the
COVID-19 Special Medical Coverage Campaign
to provide financial assistance to Clients negatively affected by the infection.
This new Campaign provides direct financial aid to cover medically necessary COVID-19 related treatment costs at any MOH Malaysia’s registered government and private hospitals. Under this Campaign, eligible Clients, with an in-force Hospitalisation & Surgical policy/contract, will be able to reimburse medically necessary treatment costs, starting from 14 August 2021, until the announcement of the end of this Campaign, with no extra premium/contribution charge.

Sun Life Malaysia Records Resilient Business Performance
Despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Malaysian life insurance and takaful industry has been standing firm against the COVID-19 economic repercussions.
During a virtual townhall session held on 6 September 2021, Sun Life Asia President, Leo Grepin, congratulated Sun Life Malaysia for its quick pivot to ensure business continuity, and able to respond well towards Clients’ evolving needs for protection and support.
Meanwhile, our CEO, Raymond Lew, shared that Sun Life Malaysia has recorded a resilient business performance during the first eight months in 2021. The resilient performance was driven by increased awareness for insurance products, which bolstered sales. He also announced that Sun Life Malaysia has received four industry and business awards, which recognised Sun Life Malaysia’s passion for Clients excellence and innovation.
The virtual townhall culminated with the official launch of the
‘Sihat Month & Wellness e-platform
’, a programme to support and encourage Sun Lifers to stay healthy, no matter their location.

Debunking Good Posture & Nutritional Myths
For our body and mind to truly flourish, we need to address health and wellness in different dimensions. Sun Life Malaysia’s fourth Brighter Wellness programme zoomed into the importance of good posture and nutritional eating, to maintain a healthier body.

Facebook live session was successfully held on 25 September 2021 at 8:30pm. This round, we have teamed up with Hanif Shawn, fitness celebrity cum certified physiotherapist, and Kit Mah a nutritional medicine practitioner cum fitness instructor to explore physical and nutritional wellness.
During the session, Kit Mah, cleared up some of the confusion about food and nutrition including separating some myths from facts. Meanwhile, Hanif provided tips on improving and maintaining good posture to prevent lower back and neck pain.
At the end of the session, 8 lucky participants walked away with attractive prizes including Xiaomi smart watches and Love Earth e-vouchers.

DE Fest – Taking Transformation Forward
In today’s digital era, technology has emerged as a critical enabler to drive business innovation and transformation. This September, Sun Life Regional Office hosted the Digital Enterprise (DE) Fest, from 27 – 30 September 2021, to share unparalleled insights on Sun Life’s DE roadmap and real-life experiences in the forms of expert panel discussions and in-depth fireside chats.
Designed to allow Sun Lifers to learn from peers who are driving digital transformation, the four-day programme lined up various sessions featuring industry experts from KPMG, PwC, and The Digital Insurer, alongside Sun Life’s DE leaders and change experts, as panel speakers. They shared views on how ‘DE’ roadmap serves as a powerful enabler that can transform our business, boost innovation, and more importantly, help to build exceptional experiences for Clients, Advisors and Employees.
Some event highlights - our Chief Distribution Officer, Alvis Wee, moderated a fireside chat session, which examined the impacts of digital transformation for Advisors. Meanwhile, our Chief Client & Digital Officer, Victor Cheong shared his views about the changes affecting our business over the next five years during a panel discussion.
