Latest Brand Campaign Lift-off!
We were so proud to unveil the “Gift of a Brighter Life” brand campaign in August! Our 2020 campaign was conceptualised based on how Sun Life Malaysia has been empowering Malaysians to achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives through our myriad of insurance and takaful plans.
As you would have read from the creatives around the office and our social platforms, this campaign was created to remind people to give the most meaningful gift to their loved ones such as an insurance/takaful plan that provides a future financial safety net. The importance of that has never been more apparent in challenging times such as now where adequate financial protection will ensure a brighter future without any worries.

Enhancing Clients’ Protection Needs
In our efforts to continuously provide comprehensive protection to our Clients, we recently launched a new medical rider attachable to 2 of our investment-linked products – Takaful Hospitalisation and Surgical Plus Benefit Rider offered via SunLink Istismar Plus plan (CIMB Bank) and Prime Medi Care-i Plus Benefit Rider available with Sun Prime Link-i plan (Agency channel).
As an enhanced version of our existing Hospitalisation & Surgical (H&S) rider, this new addition to our product range can help to further boost our Clients’ healthcare and protection needs in tandem with the rise of medical costs and the emergence of new diseases. Some of the unique benefits include:
Refund of any unutilised Room & Board (R&B) amount;
25% increase in R&B benefit every 3 years (
provided that no claim is made with the increase up to 200% of the initial benefit
);
High coverage limit up to RM3 million annual limit with no lifetime limit; and
Genomic test for cancer patients up to RM20,000 per lifetime.

Celebrating Outstanding Achievements
To recognise our advisors’ achievements, the Agency Distribution team held a recognition night for the qualifiers of Sun MRA 2020, Musang King Feast Contest, and Q2 Top Producers at the RuMa Hotel and Residences, Kuala Lumpur on 13 August 2020.
Over 80 advisors along with our CEO Raymond and DCEO Teck Seng attended the all-white themed event that helped to strengthen the fellowship and engagement between the management and the qualifiers during this challenging period. It also provided them the opportunity to share their inspirational stories and help to motivate each other whilst building a winning-team spirit.
Kudos to all winners! Their achievements are a testament to their amazing efforts and commitment to helping our Clients achieve lifetime financial security.

category! As one of the leading PR events, this awards honours outstanding work in the PR and communications industry across Southeast Asia, South Asia, Australia, and New Zealand regions.
This award is a testament to our hard work and various effective initiatives to reach out to Malaysians to impart the importance of living a healthy lifestyle in line with our business purpose. In 2019, our year-long LHL programme successfully reached out to a wide spectrum of Malaysians including the underprivileged group and benefitted more than 22,000 people as they embraced a more active and healthy lifestyle with us.

Bringing Brighter Lives to Malaysians
Did you miss our first Brighter Wellness E-Forum titled “Holistic Wellness to a Brighter YOU” in July? Fret not, we’ve got you covered! Over 240 participants had a chance to hear first hand from four esteemed experts on their advice on the topics of financial, physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.
As an initiative to help support Malaysians and their loved ones through these challenging periods, the speakers, which included our beloved CEO and brand ambassador, Hairul Azreen, shared their experience and provided insights on securing better overall well-being and peace of mind for a brighter future.
Hosted by popular host and actor, Nazrudin Rahman, the E-Forum also featured Dr. Amer Siddiq, an esteemed Universiti Malaya psychologist, and Ustaz Halim Hafidz, host of TV1’s Ustaz Biker programme.

Not Forgetting Those in Need
Our initiatives to help the communities around us continued in July as we donated RM110,000 to 2 non-governmental organisations, HOPE worldwide Malaysia and Women’s Aid Organisation, to help ease the financial burden of vulnerable communities during this difficult period.
As part of a global CAD$1 million pledge by Sun Life to provide support for communities battling COVID-19 globally, this donation supported 310 underprivileged families and domestic violence survivors with basic personal hygiene care and staple food such as sanitisers and groceries.

Creating Signature Moments
Amidst the various uncertainties during this COVID-19 pandemic, the top 60 mid- and senior- management of SLM came together for a 2020 Mid-Year Management Planning Session on 27 August 2020 to chart out the next phase of our long-term strategies and business plans.
Held internally due to the safety measures taken, the planning session provided the management a great opportunity to formulate robust initiatives to drive our business momentum and strengthen relationships with our Clients and stakeholders. The solid foundation built from the session will ensure we remain resilient in working Stronger, Faster, Brighter to do what we do best - providing exceptional Client experience, meeting their needs, and optimising our distribution channels and products.

SLM Making Headlines
Over the past many months, we continued to emphasise the importance of insurance to both the public and businesses during these unprecedented times through various awareness initiatives. This led to our efforts being recognised by several publications as they featured our CEO, Raymond across both newspapers and online portals from August to October.
Some of the business related articles included the call to the insurance industry to be more explorative and innovative in developing new offerings in NST while encouraging famliy business owners to protect and strengthen their business continuity processes in Focus Malaysia and Business Today. The new online business portal, Dagangnews.com similarly published his views on the importance of Takaful protection to financially protect families during this challenging times.
On the other hand, the Brighter Insights and Bicara Bernas columns in NST and Berita Harian had Raymond sharing about our latest brand campaign “Gift of a Brighter Life” based on how SLM protected the community around us during this pandemic and at the same time, also highlighting the importance of planning for the unexpected to the public by nominating their beneficiaries.

Striving To Be The Best
The Agency Distribution team launched its Sun Pahlawan MDRT Aspirant programme on 5 October at the Pavilion Hotel. This is an exclusive programme focused on charting the course for our top advisors to attain MDRT recognition. Over 90 leaders and advisors along with our CEO, DCEO and other agency team members attended the memorable event.
To build on the agency force’s momentum from last year, the goal of this programme is to develop more MDRT aspirants, aptly name as Sun Pahlawan, with the hope of ultimately achieving a new record of MDRT qualifiers for the agency team. Led by mentors Eric Feng and Chris Chan, two well-known external consultants in the insurance industry, the aspirants will be coached and armed with the required technical and soft skills to qualify for the prestigious MDRT, a recognition that requires dedication in reaching a certain level of premiums, commissions, or income during the year.

Rewarding The Top Performers
Hard work truly pays off! That was the case for the top qualifiers of the Shop N Dine Sensation 2020 contest during the recent celebration event held at Pavilion Hotel on 5 October. The contest, which was organised to boost the sales momentum for July and August, rewarded the advisors with shopping credits based on 2 - 3% of their production throughout the campaign period. That wasn’t all, advisors who successfully secured RM5,000 Annualised First Year Certificate Contribution (AFYCC) during the early bird period also received an exclusive collared T-shirt.
To add to their delight, they were treated to a luncheon during the event which was also graced by our CEO and DCEO celebrating together. Following that, they had a ball shopping to their hearts’ content with the credits at the haute couture shopping centre, Pavilion KL.
